One youthful pleasure I have often missed in my “adulthood”, is the true romance of the video rental experience: the trip to the store; the childlike excitement of what new movie treasures I’d find when I arrive; the tangible feel and radical art of the video ad boxes, luring me into whatever fantastical world would await me when I got home and pressed play; the crowds and staff conversing, talking movies and making tailored recommendations to each other, all gearing up for a cozy movie night filled with the perfect variety of ingredients – family and friends, popcorn and candy, laughs and screams, ooohs and aaahs.
